now i usually dont try to talk about work here
i use to have a blog dedicated to my job
and all the dumb shit that goes on at a power plant

but this is a good story for here

so some background info for the readers

i am an engineer
went to maine maratime to become a merchant marine
decided i wanted to stay land based
so i became an engineer at a power plant insted of shipping out
how are they related... well a steam power plant is a stationary steam powered boat basically,

so at my job i get to do some different things
have near death experiances
and play with some nasty chemicals

here is an example
one chemical we play with is "Sodium Hypocloride"
We call it super bleach

the bleach you use in your house is .01% sodium hypocloride and 99.98 percent water

i know i know... what a rip off!!!!

the bleach we use here at work (not to do our cloths) is 15% bleach
one drop on you will turn a spot the size of a silver dollor on your colored cloths white! and in a half a second... i shit you not

other chemicals are acids, caustics and dechlore...
but the best one is the acids....
one time i got a splash of acid on me
i didt realize it,
i looked down and was like. wow that was close, i could have sworn it hit me
then i started to walk away and felt a draft on my chest
i looked down to see my shirt had melted off me and holes starting to form on my pants right on my crotch.

yelping i quickly stripped off my shirt and dropped it on the floor, or the half that was left over. luckly i didnt get any on my skin

my jeans held though the spots liquified the jeans a bit, but they held together, luckly it was the end of the shift and i went home, i got home and stripped of my jeans and threw them inthe sink to delute the acid, when i pulled them out i had 5 holes the size of quarters in them

after i put them through the laundry and dried them, they where fine, but they still had some holes in them.... so now when i wear them people can see my boxers, and sometime when i wear the ones with the toucans on them people tell me that they can see my toucans

then i say.

wait till the horse peaks out of the barn!!!!!!
