since we were 7
I actually got back to my home town this weekend, my sister, and grunst sister and another friend where having a joint 30th bithday party, and with the exilent planning i asked if they had music planed for this huge party of thiers, and the answer i got was
well i will just trun on the raido and hope for the best.....
uuuggg, so i packed up the laptop after spending an hour making a party play list out of my 6 or 9 gigs of music, all i know is it was alot of sorting,
but that is not the full reason i went home, here was a chance to go early fall riding on old trails that i have not rode in about a year.
so off i was with the p2 in the back of the truck, got home and parked the truck got the bike out of the back and i was off.
frist i hit was the old grof park trail that loops around the back of the park in Amherst and leads to the bike path, Grunt and i Have been on this trail since we where seven, even eariler than that, but anyways, we have sceen the progression of this trail over the more than 20 years of our lives. it is a supurb trail in my eyes, the frist trail i learned how to ride well on!
so i roll up to the trail and i spot a sign, at first i was thinking they banned mountain bikes on the trail, but to my relief it was just a new sign for the trail. then i got closer and read what it said
Grunt, this is going to piss you off as much as it did me!
the sign said
"the Emily Dickison Trail" Built by the college of engineering at U-Mass
once i saw that i became extreamly pissed, these fucken noname engineers at u-mass did not build this trail, it has been there since for ever and it was built by kids from aournd the area and hikers and nature walkers and mountain bikers and people visiting the park. if you walked the trail or rode the trail you make your mark and made it wider and better, added bridges when the rain washed out the trail.
after calming down a bit i rode the trail, it had changed since i last remembered it but it is still the same, same bridges, switch backs and the doons are still out there in the middel. but other than that other than errosion and shit like that, nothing has changed,
so these panzies from u-mass can kiss my ass and emily dickison was a fucken hermet who fucker her brother, she never left her god damn house in the middle of town, she never saw that part of town, which is at least 5 to 8 miles away, so fuck her, the trail is not in her name. next time i go home, that sign may become my possetion or moved to where no one can see the discrase!!!!!!
anyways, so i finished the trail and rode down the bike path, which got renamed the "Rail Trail" ahhhhhh everything in this god damn town is changing for the worst! i am so glad i donot live here anymore!!!!!!!!!!!
so im riding "the Rail Trail" to the other trail that leads to amherst college, got there and rode that, amherst college fixed that up nice, it is truly a cross country trail so crusing is really easy on this trail. when i got out i rode up through the college through town and all the way to u-mass, did the stairs.... all like 100 sets of them and rode around cuttign through the crouds like a surgen. it was great, people where like, wow and holy shit when i cut infront of them and did not hit them or the people around them,
never came close to ditching or becoming our of controol, it was wonderfull,
then i went to go home and did suicide hill, what a rush that was, and the new bike did will even though it was a hard tail, the front shocks sucked up everything which was really nice, my legs took everything else out, then i rode 116 down, that was a hoot too!
but what i came out of this was,
vermont is more hilly, steeper and harder to ride, going home, the hills where really super easy than what i remembered, and the riding was a lot of fun, i had my chance to relive some things that i forgot about.
so for good ride, go to grof park in amherst massachusetts, park in the parking lot, go to the bottom of the hill twards the swings and you will see the trail sing, drop in and ride the trail, little up hills with quick down hills, some bridges and good single track, when you end, ride it backwards for a totally different ride to get back to the car or take a left on the "Rail Trail" and ride to amherst college, once you see tenis courts you are there, ride around them and you will see a super hill, if you are hard core ride up it, grunt and i can do it twice in one day, then ride it down, guide right, and you will see a 12 foot dropp off, if you slow you can ride it down, if you dont you can clear it, make sure there is no field hocky games going on, and it is an easy land!!!!!
well squid out
remember, today is the tommorow you dreamed about yesterday
