Another Back Woods Event

So.... last night short round had her frist shock of... OMG i live in the back woods of the vermont...

And here the story goes
so im working weekends, and short round decided that she might stick around this weekend and rest up. so i get home, super tired to find her cooking a new dish. smelled really good, i was so tried and hungry, and my hip hurt so much that i was super excited i didnt have to make my own supper. so i ran up stairs and changed in to some shorts, cuz i wanted to jump on the trainer and get some reps in and see if i could loosen the hip up and make it feel better.

by the time i got down stairs again, supper was ready, so insted of jumping on the trainer i ate. then got on the trainer.... bad move

dont eat then spin like crazy.... stomach does not like that.

anyways, i got off the trainer, then back on then off then on then off for good. then i said, hum.... how about you go to the movie king and get a movie while i shower!!! it was 2000 at that point and the movie place closes at 2100, and i tend to take long showers.

short round, naw i will wait
squid naw you should go they will close by the time im out
short round, take a quick shower
squid, i hurt and im tired, a long shower would be nice
shortround just take a shower and we will go

so i jump in the shower, and then quickly take a hot one
then jump out and yell

lesson.... when living in the back woods, nothing is open late, even the gas stations close around here!


how i got to know this, when living in maine, i went to go get a tire mounted and ballenced after class, at 1500, at the ford dealership, they told me maintance was closed because it was hunting season they all get off of work at 1400 every day and they are closed friday through sunday till hunting season is done!

i flipped out, and then was asked to leave!

lesson, dont flip out about hunting season around hunters!

oh yeah update on my knee

so the knee is better, alot better, but not great, i went to go climb something at work and man did it hurt the knee, but i was twisting my self this way and that, not tooo good on a streached MCL

on the other hand, since i favored the knee so much, i brused my hip socket thingy, so now if i sit for more than 5 min when i get up it feels like some one is stabbing me in the hip for about 5 to 10 steps, then i goes away!

better and worse! eeeehhh thats life i guesss
but im getting beer brownies! heeelll yeah

oh yeah, and i had ultimate tryouts today, well i was coaching them, timing them, the kids had a 1.3 mile run

highlights, kid puked at the end...... and the redbull truck stopped by and gave out free redbull! i got to talk to a cute redbull girl!!!!

Single Fucken Speed

now lately
and well since i built the ghetto cog up
this is the question i have been getting

WHY THE FUCK DID YOU MAKE AND RIDE A SINGLE SPEED

well here is the answer

many reasons
but one simple reason
single fucken speed....


now growing up, my frist couple bikes where all single speeds
and i never really thought about it
i could ride anywhere and i never worried about the gears
i rode and rode and the only thing that stopped me was my skidd stops that poped a tire

then i went to a 5 speed, and that eventually turned in to a single speed becase i didnt know how to fix for cable streaching, cuz i didnt know that cable streaching happens on a geared bike

then i grew up, got kinda smart, got a 18 speed mt bike
and bent the axle
then i got the mongoose
and then learned about tune ups
then payed for tune ups
then decided i could not pay for tune ups
then started to learn how to tune my own bike

then i got the horse
fucked her up a couple times
spent lots of money one her
but she is still on the trail , just not under my paws

then i got in to park riding, with the p2
and you dont really use tomany gears inthe park
so of course cable streach and yeah never fixed it till i hurt my self and could not go riding

but in all this mombo jumbo here i decided to re do a bike
and make it into a single speed
and the ghetto cog idea was born
and then built over a year

and she is fun to ride
i dont worry abou gears, and i admit hills can be killer, but it made me a stronger hill climber
i dont worry about cable streaching
i dont worry about hitting the derailers on anything
and really i dont worry about her

i cant do everything i can do on the ghetto compaiered to the p2, but she is more of a point a to b bike
than a hucking bike!

so the other day i was looking at the apollo and i said
hum light, fast, get to point a and b shit
hum fun.... yeah i need another single speed
and i can have fun with it

so i decided to make another
and i really cant wait to get on her

all i can say is if you try it you might like it
single speed bikes have a different freedom compaired to the super expensive hyped up full suspension can kill your self on.
not that im knocking a DH or free ride bike
my true love is in free riding and doing stupid shit

but there is nothing like that feeling of going back to child hood and riding on something youare not worried anything about
and noone would want to steel a bike like the ghetto
i mean come on, she is ghetto

no one would want to marry a hooker cuz you know how hard she has been ridden right??
why buy a rental car, cuz it was diven like it was stolen
and best of all, but ugly... god damn she is but ugly

the new single speed will not be but ugly, but that is just cuz im putting a little more thought in to it
and im actually putting money in to it rather than raping old beat up bikes for parts
haha

2 of my six bikes are single speeds now
will i get a 7th bike or trade out a frame this summer
who knows
but for now
riden around st jay on early morning rides are going to be on one fucken speed!

So I have my brace now thats good
im walken around alot
better
and for the frist time a couple days ago i was on the P2
the sexy new fork she has
then i started finishing the work on the BMX in the house that is not mine

then i started a new project that is going to take a while

the apollo is going to be a single speed
right now i ripped off all the derailers, and cables and
well she is fine now, she is in 1/5 for gears cuz the spings pushed it that way
i bet she flys now

all i got to do is get a new wheel and a converson kit
or a actual single speed wheel
either or, she is not going to be like the ghetto
scary to ride
she is going to be nice and simple and fun
still going to have breaks i dont want to make her into a fixed gear
but that would be fun too i think i dont know
the real problem is the hills in vermont a fixed gear could be well......
super dangerious

and with my knee that would be hell

riding is differnt
the knee brace makes me feel bulky a bit
and it does not feel super to be on a bike all the time
so with that

i will keep ya up dayed

and i will start a new chapter in ghetto cog

What an UpDate

Why hello there
squid here

so its time to give you an update on my situation

so i have a pulled MCL, and recovering
saw the pt, he told me to take the brace off, ditch the crutch and go back to work and stop being a pussy, but dont go skiing or anything else till i get my knee brace!

got to work
they could not decide if i could be there or not, so 4 hours on the phone With the home office and this other company finally they told me to stop being a pussy and go back to work

and i got some great comments like
"hay crash, i need 20 feet of fence taken down... think you can help"
or
"hay dont move to quick, squid cant catch up"
or
"we wont make him stand, he could hurt him self"

anyways

knee brace tomorrow
picking up short round today after work
and that is that
thanks again for the support
knee is tight, hip hurts
work is still work but glad im back
got screwed out of 16 hours of sick time
but getting a full pay check

anyways
im out
and about
but not running yet

did get on a bike though
and decided i should wait for my knee brace
